LATU CARDIGAN // WE ARE KNITTERS

Let me show you the results of my little social collab with We Are Knitters. As I wrote in my previous post, I got a chance to test on of the WAK knitting kits. I chose to knit the Latu cardigan, which turned out even better than I imagined. I'm so happy with the result and for professional looking the finished cardigan is. It is super warm and cozy, but the yarn has this amazing sheen which makes it very wearable even at the office. My office space is really cold during the winter so I'm always on the lookout for bulky weight cardigans and sweaters that you can wear for meetings without looking frumpy. This one ticks all the boxes.

The construction of the cardigan was really easy and simple, so on that front it was quite a mindless piece to kit. The stitch pattern was a bit challenging at first but once I got in the flow of it, it all went very smoothly. I really like how the stitch pattern looks, it gives the fabric a really intersting texture.

I chose to knit the cardigan in a shade called Forest green. The color is absolutely beautiful, one of my all time favorites. It manages to be really deep and bright at the same time. The yarn is 100 % wool and not superwash treated, so I joined the skeins by spit slicing the ends together, yay for less yarn ends to weave in.

The only complaint I can think of about the kit is that I found the wooden needles a bit short for the longer parts such as the back and the front edges, so I substituted them for my circular needle.

I made two small changes to the pattern. I used three needle bind-off for joining together the shoulder seams and added a similar garter stitch edging to the sleeves as for the bottom hem and sides of the fronts and neck. Other than those I followed the pattern as written.

I want to thank We Are Knitters for this great opportunity. I really love their yarn and this won't be the last time I will be knitting with them. I'm already dreaming about the Meriwool Sprinkle Fantasy. Swoon!

  1. What a gorgeous cardigan, I love the colour. I have never tried the We Are Knitters kits, but I would imagine I wouldn't like the needles, I am a circular needles kind of girl.

Salut Chéri! Beret Pattern.

Here is the pattern for the berets I've knitted. The name for the beret is from the t-shirt I was wearing when I took the project photos of the first beret for Ravelry. Saving A Curling Scarf.

Don't you just hate it when a piece you've spent hours working on doesn't turn out the way you imagined it? It looks like this... ...when it should be more like this. After just a couple of rows into the Trellis scarf I noticed the cast on edge started to roll upwards ever so slightly. As I continued to knit the curling got worse and worse until it seemed to calm down when the scarf measured 10 cm or so from the CO edge. I didn't really stress much about it thinking it would be easily fixed later on and continued to knit further. Halfway through knitting the scarf I faced another problem with the scarf. The CO edge still rolled up and now the sides started to curl inwards. So badly that the scarf lost more than half of it's width. I hate it when it happens. If this was something I designed myself I could maybe live with the mistake, but when it's a pattern that is published I would assume such things would have been fixed. Or at least
